Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct (CoC) sets out the standards of behaviours expected of NSWPK members, participants, and the wider community while attending or participating in any NSWPK led activities, as well as in their interactions with NSWPK and the border community and when representing NSWPK and parkour.
This exists to provide clear guidance on the values and expectations of anyone involved in NSWPK in any way, ensure our activities are beneficial to participants and community members, and raise awareness of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour and provide means to assist in avoiding any real or perceived misconduct.

Standards of behaviour and obligations
1. Demonstrate integrity and sportsmanship
• Participants must conduct themselves with integrity, respect and good sportsmanship at all times. This includes:
Treating all participants, such as coaches, volunteers, officials, and members of the public with respect and courtesy.
Acting honestly, fairly, and responsibly in all interactions within the community.
Showing respect for the equipment, property, facilities, and public spaces used by the community.
Taking responsibility for one’s actions and behaviour, both during NSWPK sessions and when representing NSWPK.
Abiding by both the rules and spirit of the sport, including standards and guidelines set by the Australian Parkour Association (APA).
Complying with all the applicable policies and requirements of the Australian Parkour Association (APA), and other relevant organisations, including child safety and anti-doping policies.
2. Behave with professionalism and respect
• Participants must adhere to set standards and behave respectfully towards those they interact with. This includes:
Encouraging a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants, regardless of age, ability, background or experience.
Treating people with respect and dignity, regardless of their cultural background, personal circumstances or beliefs.
Acting with care and diligence in all activities to assist in the safeguarding of health, safety and wellbeing of others.
Show concern,empathy, and consideration for others, who may be unwell, injured, or otherwise vulnerable.
3. Act as a positive community role model
• NSWPK participants are expected to behave in a manner that reflects positively on NSWPK, the wider community, and the sport as a whole. This includes:
Behaving in a way that aligns with the values and expectations of NSWPK participants, attendees and members.
Being a positive role model for parkour and promoting the values, spirit and responsible practice of the sport.
Acting with integrity, taking responsibility for your actions and reporting any concerns or breaches of this Code of Conduct to NSWPK.
Refrain from engaging in, or encouraging others to engage in, unlawful conduct or behaviour that may harm the reputation of NSWPK, the wider parkour community or disrepute the sport.
Present yourself in a respectful and appropriate manner when representing NSWPK.
4. Use good judgement and act responsibly
• PKNSW participants must:
Exercise good judgement, and act in a manner that promotes safety, well being and best interest of others.
Disclose any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest that may affect their involvement with NSWPK activities.
Adhere to the NSWPK Child Safe Sport Code of Behaviour when interacting with children during any NSWPK led or endorsed activities or events, when representing NSWPK or when representing parkour.
Injuries or medical conditions
Should you have an existing injury or medical condition that may affect your participation, please inform an attending NSWPK member before taking part in any NSWPK-affiliated activities.
Participants are responsible for their own ability to participate safely and should not take part in activities beyond their own physical capabilities. NSWPK members can offer their support and suggestions, and may advise you to modify or restrict participation, but any actions taken by you are your own responsibility.
Mixed-age activities and child protection
NSWPK is a mixed age community, and participants may find themselves training alongside or interacting with children or young people. We are committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, respected, included and supported during NSWPK activities.
When interacting with children, participants are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and in accordance with the NSWPK Child Safe Sport Code of Behaviour. This may include adapting language, behaviour, and interactions to be more suitable for younger participants. This includes:
Obtaining consent before any physical contact. If physical contact is necessary for coaching, spotting or safety purposes, participants should explain the reason for the contact and obtain the child’s enthusiastic consent beforehand whenever practical or appropriate.
Maintain appropriate boundaries. An adult should never take a child to separate or private areas. Interactions with children, whenever possible, should always occur in open and observable spaces.
NSWPK members and any adult, especially those with reporting obligations, are required to report any concerns, suspicions or allegations of child abuse, neglect, misconduct or any harm to a child to the NSWPK member and/or legal authorities.
Diversity and Inclusion
NSWPK welcomes and supports all individuals who come to learn, train, and participate with us. We are committed to fostering a healthy environment for all participants and will not tolerate behaviour that causes anyone to feel unsafe, excluded or disrespected on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, age, body type, ability, race, cultural background or any other personal characteristics.
Drugs and alcohol
NSWPK takes a zero-tolerance approach to illicit drugs and alcohol at NSWPK events. We understand that community members may sometimes engage in social events where alcohol is available. The organiser or venue of any function where alcohol is served will be accountable for ensuring that it is served in a responsible manner and that applicable licensing, child safety, and legal requirements are complied with.

Smoking and Vaping
We do not support smoking or vaping, especially in the proximity of minors at our events. We ask that anyone wishing to smoke or vape please do so away from NSWPK activity areas or, where available; in designated public smoking areas.

Breaches of the Code of Conduct
NSWPK reserves the right to take appropriate action where a participant fails to comply with this Code of Conduct.
Where concerns arise, a participant may be asked to leave an activity and cease participating whilst NSWPK or appropriate authorities review the matter. NSWPK will usually allow time for discussion and look to resolve the matter as soon as possible and resume normal activities.
Depending on the severity of the matter, NSWPK may impose additional measures such as warnings, temporary suspension, or exclusion from NSWPK activities and events.
Where concerns are of a more serious nature, including conduct that may be unlawful or affects safety, welfare or wellbeing of participants, NSWPK will take immediate action and make reports to the appropriate authorities where required. Any matters involving a child or young person will also be managed in accordance with NSWPK child safety policies.
